It is one of the star buys for Acer desktops, with an option to upgrade from its bundled 19-inch monitor to 20-inch at just S$49.

One of Acer's more prominent offers at the IT Show has to be the Acer Extensa 4620Z notebook, which is priced at only S$999. For this special price, you get an Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2370 (1.73GHz, 533MHz FSB, 1MB L2 cache), 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB HDD and a 14-inch WXGA color TFT LCD screen.

Acer's latest 24-inch LCD monitor, the Acer P243, gives more than it takes, with a resolution of up to 1920 x 1200, contrast ratio of 3000:1 and a fast response time of 2ms. The top model in ASUS' powerful gaming notebook series, the $3498 G2S has been updated with a Penryn class T9300 Intel Core 2 Duo processor and NVIDIA's latest GeForce 8700M GT with 512MB of video memory. ASUS' Eee PC remains a favorite with consumers who are still amazed by its tiny size and its very reasonable $598 price tag.

Looking for a full multimedia experience? The 2ms ASUS MK241H fits the bill if you can afford its $868 price tag. This is a full HD display with analog, DVI and HDMI output, a built-in webcam with microphone array and a contrast ratio of 3000:1. Bonus gifts include Altec Lansing speakers and a DVI cable worth up to $188.

Within this cabinet display is the entire range of ASUS mobile devices.

The 14.1-inch LifeBook S7211LE3VP is only available at the IT Show, packing in a Core 2 Duo T5550, 1GB of DDR2 memory and a 250GB SATA hard drive within its 2.2kg chassis. This notebook will cost you $1788, with Fujitsu throwing in an additional battery and an optical mouse.

Students get a treat from HP, with the HP Pavilion tx2028AU Entertainment Notebook PC. Powered by AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technolody TL-60 (2.0GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 cache) and 2GB of DDR2 RAM, the tx20208AU is designed for students in mind, with its touch screen and digitize screen interface and integrated 802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN and Bluetooth. Priced at $1699 (usual retail price: $2828) only for students, this 12.1-inch notebook should be a hot favorite amongst students during this IT Show.

One of more competitively priced notebooks at the IT Show is the Compaq Presario A906TU at $1299. For that, you'll get a Pentium Dual Core processor T2330, 1GB of DDR2 memory and a 160GB hard drive. Canon's star buy is the Pixma MP145 at only $119, which also comes with a Targus Backpack worth another $80 and a trolley and USB cable for when you have the urge to bring your printer traveling with you

Getting in on the glossy black action is another star buy, the Canon Pixma iP1880 for only $89, which prints up to 4800dpi. The inkjet printer comes with a free black ink PG830 cartridge worth $24.90 and a free 1GB SD card. Like the other star buy, this one also comes with a trolley and USB cable

For $169, Canon's Pixma iP4500 has auto duplex printing, five individual ink tanks, has a print resolution of up to 9600dpi and can print straight up from your CD and DVD for those moments when you're pretty sure you don't need to do any Photoshop magic

For the DSLR side of things, we have the EOS 400D (Kit II), which Canon is offering for $1849. Canon is also throwing in a few other goodies such as two 2GB Compact Flash cards, a battery grip, a battery, an EOS photography guide, a bag, 20 DVD +R discs and an 80GB external HDD. For low cost printing at $9.90 per cartridge, look no further than the Epson Stylus CX5500, priced at $128 (usual price $148). With the ability to print, scan and copy and the freedom to mix and match 2 different ink capacity, the Stylus CX5500 is definitely an inexpensive printer for your basic usage

However, should you need a more in-depth user interface, consider the Epson Stylus CX8300 with its crystal clear 2.5-inch LCD screen. With speedy prints up to 32ppm and utilizing 4 INKdividual DURABrite Ultra cartridges, the CX8300 is offered at $218 (usual price: $228).

For a mid-range printer, there is the Epson Stylus CX7300, with added convenience from its card slots and PictBridge functions. Printing documents would be a breeze at its rated speedy print of up to 32ppm and all at the cost of $168 (usual price $178).

EAST GEAR

With such attractive prices for SD flash memory, it's no surprise that the queue at the Kingston booth was extremely long. Be prepared for a long wait for your purchase. The speedy Elite Pro and Ultimate models however still command a premium.

Kingston's HyperX DDR2-1066 memory is going for $69 per 1GB stick, making it a target for enthusiasts.

While Compact Flash memory is predictably getting cheaper, the high-end ultra fast versions are not exactly affordable yet, with a 16GB card costing about $276 (Read: 25MB/s, Write: 20MB/s).

Need an external dual layer DVD-RW writer with LightScribe function? Check out Freecom's model pictured here then. At $135, this model together with a FireWire version ($185) and is available for purchase at Skylet's booth.
