It claims to be the first notebook to squeeze in a ultra performing Intel Core 2 QX9770 processor as well as Diamond Radeon HD 3850 graphics and 4GB of GSkill DDR2 memory. In addition a single 500GB Western Digital Caviar SE16 drive is included as well as a Lite-On 20X DVD+/-RW optical drive.

Don’t expect anything ultra portable about this notebook as SmoothCreations intended to offer desktop level performance to consumers that need a mobile workstation solution or a gamer who doesn’t want to lug around a large PC to LAN parties.

In a default run of 3DMark06, it manages to score 12822 3DMarks, which is obviously going to offer a very solid gaming experience

ASUS also set up a few demo systems for the public and we snapped a few pics of this system, which ASUS is using their EPU technology to save power. This system is running on their P5Q3 motherboard with a Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770, 2x 1GB Corsair DDR3 1800 RAM and using two ASUS EAH3850 video cards

Meant for overclockers, this demo system is running on their Rampage Extreme motherboard which is based on the latest X48 chipset. The system here is using a Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770, two 1GB OCZ DDR3 1800 RAM sticks and uses two ASUS EAH3870 video cards.

Our third demo system uses the ASUS Maximus II Formula motherboard for gaming. While it uses the same processor and video card as the previous rig, the third demo system is using two 1GB Corsair DDR2 1066 sticks.

Our fourth demo system showcases ASUS Express Gate technology for a quick 5 seconds boot up. This system uses the ASUS M3N-HT motherboard which is based on Nvidia's nForce 780a SLI and is running a AMD X4 Phenom 9850 processor. Furthermore, the demo system uses two sticks of 1GB Kingston DDR2 1066 RAM and two ASUS 9800GX2 TOP video cards.

Last but not least is a look at the ASUS EAH 3850 Trinity, and the stickers show you where the three cores are located on the card

Seen here is the very rarely seen Limited Edition Triton 79 CPU cooler. Only 3200 units were ever made and we were informed that they were all sold out. Darn.

The Axe Square makes its first appearance at Computex 2008, which means this is probably your first glimpse at this cooler.

Also making its debut appearance at Computex 2008 is the Royal Knight, which weighs in at 750g.

you got about US$1500~US$3000 handy, you might as well splurge it all on the ASUS ARES CG6155. Featuring 4 CPUs and 4 GPUs and up to 4TB of HDD space, this transformer looking gaming rig is ready to blow your mind (and wallet).

For everyone else who can't afford the ARES, there's always the Essentio CM5420, which features pretty decent specifications with its Core 2 Quad CPU, up to 4GB DDRII 800 RAM and uses a Nvidia GeForce 8800GT

AMD at Computex was a mix of components displayed as well as showcases to illustrate some of the points we've covered in our AMD comeback article

AMD CHIPSET MOTHERBOARD

AMD's booth front was proudly showing off the many AMD chipset based boards and graphics cards out in the market, as well as the upcoming AMD 790GX + SB750 boards with an updated integrated graphics engine (Radeon HD 3300).

Gigabyte's GA-MA790GP-DS4H is one such unlabelled AMD 790GX motherboard that we spotted. Dual PCIe x16 slots with x8 electrical configuration each, and the enlarged chipset cooler actually overshadows the onboard dedicated frame buffer for the IGP. The AMD 790GX boards look to be really interesting mainstream performance class boards. Weird, but centralized positioning of the USB ports though

ASRock's ODE790GX-WiFi is also an AMD 790GX mobo.

Yet another AMD 790GX mobo, the Biostar TA790GX A2+.

Here's an interesting entry, the ECS A740GM-M board; it uses the AMD 740G chipset. Though it sounds new, it's actually the AMD 690G Northbridge that's rehashed (with Radeon 2100 graphics), but uses an AMD SB700 Southbridge instead. So it's just an updated AMD 690G board

Jetway's HA03-Ultra is an AMD 770 board for mainstream needs.

ECS has incorporated an AMD 780G chipset on its special Black series of boards with this A780GM-A motherboard; it certainly doesn?t look or feel like the usual ECS board

ASUS went all out with the AMD 780G chipset and designed a normal sized ATX board with the M3A78 PRO.

The AMD 790FX chipset isn't new anymore, but the A79A-S is a new board for Foxconn. Fierce-looking indeed

Triplex took a stock Radeon HD 3870 X2 and slapped on some custom coolers.

Sapphire's well-branded Toxic edition of the Radeon HD 3870 was on display.

HIS and its IceQ 3 cooler are expectedly found again on the Radeon HD 3870.

Puma Notebooks Spotted (Turion X2 Ultra

Here's HP's Puma platform based notebook. No model numbers are confirmed and it isn't printed on the notebook

Toshiba has one model too, but no model numbers or specs yet.

Here's how you identify a Puma platform based notebook. It consists of a Turion X2 Ultra processor, AMD M780G chipset and 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi.

We were able to put a model name to this Acer Puma notebook though, a TravelMate 5530

However we didn't get a clue of this other Acer notebook that's based on Puma.

Just a month ago, AMD launched their AMD Business Systems initiative, but this is the first time that AMD is putting such systems for display.

AMD Live! was once again showcased for entertainment - a standard that ensures connectivity among other HT equipment/system with this certification. Although it seems a little jaded in both relevancy and the need for this standard when there are no tangible gains/setbacks when not using stuff outside this ring.

Here's a really kick-ass looking gaming rig put together with a Thermaltake casing and an AMD CrossFireX system with dual Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics cards.

The MSI G45 Platinum is an integrated graphics full ATX motherboard that features Circu-Pipe 2 cooling and Dr. MOS technology. The board supports DDR2-1200 and comes equipped with two PCIe graphics slots

This latest MSI board features up to eight memory slots. Known as the MSI P4S8D, the P45 based board will come with support for both DDR2 and DDR3 memory, ensuring great future upgradability. As with most MSI boards, it will feature their latest Dr. MOS technology as well as Circu-Pipe 2 Lite cooling solution.

The P45 Neo is a no-frills board for the budget seeker. Though without their signature cooling design or Dr. MOS technology, the board still comes with high quality solid capacitors throughout. There are still overclocking options, as well as adequate SATA ports available for all kinds of purpose.

The MSI G43M2 is a micro-ATX board based on the Intel G43 integrated graphics chipset. Equipped with the latest Intel GMA X4500 graphics, this board is built to handle HD video as well as less demanding games.

It comes with Dr. MOS technology, GreenPower technology (for better power savings), Circu-Pipe 2 cooling, two-phase power supply on chipset and memory, two PCIe graphics slots and up to nine SATA ports (eight internal and one eSATA

The MSI X48 Platinum is one of MSI's premium offerings based on the Intel X48 chipset. Packed with MSI's GreenPower technology which provides dual-channel four-phase PWM and the Circu-Pipe cooling design, this board should provide overclockers and enthusiasts with all that they need to get their system running at high speed. Besides that, the board also features four PCIe x16 graphics slots for quad CrossFireX, plug-and-play hardware RAID, DDR3-1800 support and eight SATA II ports (six internal and two eSATA).

The MSI X48C Platinum is based on the Intel X48 chipset. The difference is that the 'C' variant only features up to two PCIe x16 graphics slots and a hybrid DDR2/DDR3 design. It comes with four DDR3 slots that support up to DDR3-1800 and two DDR2 slots that support up to DDR2-1066 memory

The MSI P45 Diamond is yet another premium board for overclockers. Featuring Intel's P45 chipset, ten SATA II ports (eight internal and two eSATA), DDR3-1600 slots, Creative SB X-Fi Extreme PCIe audio card and dual Gigabit LAN ports, the board is also equipped with a water cooling block on the north bridge. This gives overclockers the convenience to integrate water cooling devices with the motherboard.

MSI's Wind Series

MSI's latest and most talked about Wind Notebook featuring the latest Intel Atom processor. The Wind notebook is actually known as a netbook, the kind of product that gives users great mobility and battery life while enabling internet connectivity and general computing purposes

The MSI Wind Board is part of the Wind series featuring the Intel Atom processor. It features a built-in Intel Atom 230 processor clocked at 1.6GHz. The board is based on the Intel 945GC chipset paired with the Intel ICH7 southbridge. It also comes with basic connectivity such as 100Mbps LAN, two SATA II ports, six USB 2.0 ports and HD audio output.
